Taxi prices in Boksburg have skyrocketed in recent years, with the number of taxi drivers in the capital's business district skyrocketing almost 25 percent from last year, while the minimum wage on average has increased by more than 90 percent. The city has already offered discounts to teenagers in the past and will now ensure that Uber drivers and other private cars are affordable to anyone who needs a lift at any time of the day. Taxi drivers from neighbouring municipalities say that they want the fees to fall, but are worried about legal ramifications. They're also concerned that the new policy will hurt a brand they value for their fee-based models.
