I'm from the Southside of Buffalo, New York. I can take any kind of ride, but I prefer to drive my own car and pay for everything. If there is a chance that you are taking me somewhere I will not be paying, I will gladly sit and wait. My car is a 2003 black Mazda RX6 2.5L Automatic. I've only had the car for a few months and I've already paid for everything I can find in the areas around Buffalo and I'm not doing any major repairs, so I can keep it cheap, as long as you pay for everything! I work as a dishwasher, a butcher and a part time security guard.

Uber pulled out of Buffalo shortly after six months, after the city asked for data that showed the ride-sharing service was essentially replacing city taxi business, according to the Buffalo News. Since then, Uber has largely made up the difference in wages by hiring a new contractor to drive vehicles. During that period, Buffalo-area drivers of both private- and public-sector cabs have struggled to make ends meet.

Taxi prices in Buffalo are expensive and getting more so with the increase in the service industry, and there are a number of cheap rides in the immediate area. Despite the many well-known New York cabs, the town of Buffalo has at least seven more companies offering rides to those on the move, bringing the total to the city to 15.

Taxi prices in Buffalo will still be lower than those in New York City or in Austin and Dallas. For example, I'm not entirely sure how much it will cost to get to a game at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul or the XFINITY Center in Minneapolis. But when it comes to cab fare, one car and one bus are still likely to cost you closer to $300, not $300,000. Whatever the case, the current reality is this: A few of the teams have bigger financial advantages than they would like. If you live in the area, it's a good time to get a cab. There's a long list of restaurants offering local fare. The annual Buffalo Festival of the Arts is a great way to dine on local fare.

Uber rates in Buffalo are among the highest in the country, topping out at $3.74 an hour. And though Uber vehicles aren't required to be licensed by the state, Uber officials have said they are trying to inform drivers that the company is enforcing the state's commercial vehicles and passengers' right to use a mobile phone while driving. Elmo Taxi, Buffalo's original Uber competitor, offers a live driver in the hills with locals, as well as a much cheaper alternative to Uber that has crews in Buffalo and Buffalo's surrounding areas. Uber's prices for local Uber drivers aren't as expensive as Elmo Taxi.
