Uber drivers are usually 5 minutes away - no matter where I'm at in Dallas. I've had over 50+ trips and never had an issue or anything. Very convenient especially when compared to regular taxi service.

Ride-sharing services have exploded in popularity in Dallas over the last few years. You can use these services to transport people to and from your hotel, work, the airport or just to get to and from the grocery store. However, the services are also responsible for the death of thousands of people in the last year.
In June 2014, two teens were fatally injured in a collision between a car and a Ride-Sharing service called Uber. At the time, there was a protest, which took place at the Dallas City Hall. According to reports, about 100 people participated in the protest. Some of the protesters held signs that said, "Uber kills."
Dallas has also seen the rise of Sidecar. Sidecar was founded in Dallas and has since expanded to Chicago and Houston. There have been numerous instances where Sidecar drivers have been involved in deadly accidents.

Taxi in Dallas isn't what they make it out to be, is it? If you are from California and visiting, you need to learn how to ask the taxi driver to turn off the automatic alarms. Don't do it for the "special" benefit they have (turns off the automatic alarms during peak hours) and also do it because you know how awful things are for cab drivers and their families in California.

Uber in Dallas has the ability to log a vehicle check in at the customer service station. Once there, the service will report the details to Uber immediately. If the driver is an UberX driver, he will only have to receive a website check within two weeks after providing the vehicle information. The Uber service then responds with a 100% drivers' vehicle background check within 24 hours of receipt of the verification. From there, drivers will begin accepting riders within two business days and enjoy more than 50% prices drop.

Taxi prices in Dallas are much higher than the national average (to get a taxi ride in the city, one would have to pay a minimum of $35.50 and a maximum of $50.)
Taxi drivers in Dallas are paying for jobs on the side, which is something that doesn't come without cost to their fellow drivers and passengers. In some cities, cabs operate as a separate entity from the franchise that provides service, giving drivers the ability to start their own cabs or operating businesses for themselves.

Taxi prices in Dallas are expected to rise 12 percent in 2020, according to J.D. Power and Associates. And the local competition in the taxi industry has recently been putting pressure on the taxi industry to cut prices, too.

Taxi prices in Dallas have tripled since the end of March, and luxury cars are becoming hard to come by. However, this city is also known for cheap rent and awesome restaurants, so don't be disappointed if you end up in a great hotel near your destination.

Taxi prices in Dallas, Texas are still the cheapest among major cities, according to a report published last week by the San Francisco-based AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety.
New York fares second as a city in which taxi prices were among the cheapest in the nation, despite the fact the cost of maintaining a vehicle has increased significantly since 2013, said Henry Aho, the study's author.
"It's the lowest in the country when you account for the costs of maintaining a vehicle," he said. "We're seeing a significant shift in the cost of maintaining a vehicle".

This is the public Uber with a nice big detour out the door. Uber's view of the world is that our airport is a part of our global workforce and today's employees will be the future employees of the future. I am here today to launch an app that helps companies like ours better realize that vision.
Today, it is indisputable that autonomous vehicles are here to stay and that we must design a new transportation system that is more like our current one.

Taxi prices in Dallas are far cheaper than in Manhattan, which has a transit system comparable in size to the city's, and in many ways matches what UberX users get for free. If it takes much longer to get into work, that has less to do with the distance in Dallas than it does with the fact that fares are lower. But as drivers get a larger share of the cost of a trip, those vehicles will become more valuable for the driver, and a city as scarce as Dallas's doesn't provide long-term incentives to keep fares low. In the Dallas metro, many Uber and Lyft drivers offer rides through online platforms such as Uber or Lyft drivers can access the maps for their cars using smartphones and watch the GPS feed.

Uber rates in Dallas are basically free. Yes, you can drive on-demand, but you have to be within 200 feet of a service area to qualify. One company that has been working the bayou on a near daily basis is UberDarts. Built on the DART mobile app, UberDarts allows riders to book a single trip to and from anywhere in the metro area. Then, they only need to scan their phone with Square in order to purchase a fare. Dallas should see an increase in rural, southern areas as well as Dallas' middle and upper class suburbs, riding Uber's sleek car-sharing and taxi service. Traffic had traditionally been an issue in Dallas, where in recent decades thousands of suburban homes have been built on the rapidly growing Southwestern edge of the city.

Lyft is better. Their up front price is what they charge. Uber tries to add tolls and airport fees, which should be included already. Lyft knows when tolls and additional fees will be charged, and includes them from the start.
