Taxi prices in Daytona Beach may go up significantly once you enter the area. It may take a while for you to ride a regular cab back, but with an Uber or Lyft you'll be comfortable enough to visit the beach and shopping neighborhoods. Taxi prices in Daytona Beach dropped by almost 40 percent this year and have dropped another 36 percent overall over the past six years. The average dollar fare dropped $2,000 and 50 cents an hour at downtown during the past week alone. The increase in taxi fares could be one of the factors contributing to the slowdown, said Dave Leibrand, the director of the Transportation Research and Information Center, a Florida-based public policy think tank.

Taxi prices in Daytona Beach, Florida? Even though the cost of a taxi in the city is only $0.45, their "cheap" price is true. Taxi drivers will often earn more money when a driver surrenders a full fare to wait for customers. Taxi prices in Daytona Beach and Fort Lauderdale have skyrocketed since the rise of Uber and Lyft, and the result for travelers to the Carolinas is staggering. Some of those drivers are angry. Others are tired of running low on credit to pay for gas. Others feel shortchanged in the short term and much richer in the long run. There are significant options to avoid the surge, however, including a public transit system that could be funded by tolls.
