Uber was launched in the country in 2011, following a surge in demand for rides in the country. Uber has had a bumpy start in the country, with the authorities saying that they have received more than 7,000 complaints on the matter, most of which are against the app's drivers.
Uber has also come under fire from the government for charging a hefty "administrative fee" on each trip, as well as for the alleged "exploitation" of its drivers.
