Due to Uber's rapid growth, taxis have to compete for customers in El Paso. The El Paso Taxicab Association (ETPA) produces, coordinates, and monitors taxi industry policies and services that are necessary to keep the El Paso community safe and prosperous. If you live or work in El Paso, you are invited to take advantage of the benefits of ETA's services. Booking a taxi in El Paso? Always remember to always double check your taxi address and phone number to ensure you are calling a reliable taxi company.

Uber rates in El Paso are way higher than they are in San Antonio and Austin. This is El Paso. I have to walk two blocks to get anywhere, let alone the burrito at El Pastry de Puerto Rican in this hip neighborhood. This is what everything there's a train for, the train. For a one way trip from west side of town to the south El Paso, I would recommend Uber.

Uber rates in El Paso do not include a shift tax of 15 percent that Lyft and other transportation companies charge. Uber introduced its own surge pricing to ensure that drivers have enough money to pay the steep fines. The growth of ride-sharing services has created a rush for job opportunities for drivers, forcing some companies to offer lower fees or swap higher-paying jobs for seasonal jobs. As a result, companies are offering incentives to drivers and offering drivers tax breaks. Uber says it has nearly 1.2 million drivers in the U.S. and Mexico. Uber rates in El Paso remain 15 percent higher than in New York, but that's in part due to the influx of upscale restaurants that thrive in those city's high-income neighborhoods.

Taxi prices in El Paso can vary depending on the time of day. The lowest rates are 3.50 to 5.75 per minute and that's the one I went with. The lowest fares are usually in the afternoon so you'd find most of the people in the small number of drop off locations are on a Friday or Saturday. I've seen the fare from the Hotel Martirio near the downtown metro is 5.95 per minute so if it's during peak times it's still a good deal. There are three types of ride prices that vary according to time of day. 2pm and 4pm: The 2pm and 4pm taxis are very competitive fares. The 3pm and 6pm are the most expensive for both rides and wait time. 7pm and after: 7pm and after taxis are less competitive. They are also much easier to catch.

I don't understand where or how I can reserve a pick-up from Uber or Lyft. Phone numbers are provided for taxi services but not for Uber or Lyft. I don't believe I've ever used Uber before and wish to get a ride to the airport this afternoon.
