Taxi prices in Honolulu are crazy compared to other major cities I've been to. Their fares are just crazy, it seems like the cheapest place you can get a cab. Like their food prices and their prices to be a taxi driver. Be careful. It's going to cost you about 5 times the price of the taxi, and they don't make much money if you work as a cab driver. I think they are not really a taxi company. I mean, they call themselves a taxi company, but they use their own vehicles and own the network.

Uber rates in Honolulu are significantly lower than in other states. High-earning earners could save hundreds of dollars by using Uber in a more efficient way. Uber rates in Honolulu, and some other major cities, have fluctuated wildly during the first several months of the year, sometimes rising as high as 15% or 20% above the local prevailing rate. Many of the lower-priced UberX options, and in particular the smaller ridesharing services UberX and Lyft, have seen fares triple, even quadruple the rate at which the city currently charges.

Taxi prices in Honolulu may vary but mostly they are limited to $8.40 for a round trip. Additionally, passengers who book a round trip taxi will be charged one additional $2 fare to the airport for domestic deliveries. This additional $2 fee must be paid by the driver at the terminal. Hawaii has a taxi surcharge on the Big Island as well, which amounts to more than $8 per ride. If the driver charges more than the surcharge, the driver must be cited for a non-compliance with Hawaii's law that prohibits cab drivers from surcharging passengers. Cars are simpler and easier to maintain than those in most other major cities.

Uber rates in Honolulu are getting much better. While the rest of the state is also trending for Uber, only a few markets have the opportunity to save a buck by using the competitor. After the city's Supreme Court ruled last week that ride-hailing companies need permits to operate in the city, major companies including Uber and Lyft began going back to work, hiring additional employees to meet increased demand. The permits cost $3.1 million for now, said David Gordon, spokeswoman for the Hawaii Department of Transportation. The city issued licenses to Uber and Lyft on Thursday, then gave its first exemption to Instacart, a restaurant-delivery service. It was set to go back on January 9.

Looking to be picked up at Sheraton Waikiki and going to the north shore tomorrow. What would the charge be for round trip?
