What is the cost for an uber from lax to Hampton inn at DuPont circle in Irvine?

MikeM posted on Nov 20, 2019

Uber is one of the fastest-growing companies in the world. It began as an app-based ride-sharing service that was launched in 2009 by an individual named Travis Kalanick. Uber now operates in over 200 cities across the world and employs more than 50,000 drivers, who have collectively logged more than 200 million rides. The company's valuation now surpasses $50 billion.

The lawsuit, filed Tuesday, alleges that Uber is "engaged in a widespread scheme to deceive and defraud the public in order to extort and enrich itself at the expense of the public at large." The lawsuit seeks to stop Uber's "unlawful and fraudulent conduct" and to recoup damages and costs incurred by the plaintiffs.

Los Angeles taxi drivers also came out in support of the Uber strike, with a number of drivers holding a silent protest in front of Uber's headquarters. A number of drivers even used their taxis to block the streets, displaying blue ribbons during the strike. The protest later dissipated without any real activity. Uber, however, is continuing with its 'strikes' in San Francisco and Los Angeles while it tries to improve working conditions for its drivers. The upshot is that its fares in these two cities have been reduced in favour of its drivers.

We discovered that taxi drivers work in almost every major city in the United States. There are about five million taxi drivers across the country and over the last decade, they have improved the industry. Many drivers today have permits and licenses, and some are mobile companies that offer their services through apps. From taxi drivers to locksmiths, these men and women make a living in almost every part of the United States. In fact, over 15 million people work as taxi drivers, and the majority are men.

Taxi prices in Hollywood are slightly more expensive than New York or San Francisco. Buses are $1.50-2.25, the average ticket on a single trip is $5.50, and taxi fares in Hollywood range from $2.00-$6.00 (the highest being $4.20), so fares are significantly higher than the city average. Some of Hollywood's districts have well-organized taxi companies that would be a better choice than the taxis they have now.

Uber rates in Hollywood are relatively cheaper than in other cities, with UberPOOL being the most expensive. The average price is $14.13 per minute while UberX is slightly cheaper at $12.30 per minute. The price for a ride with a driver who doesn't pick you up through UberPOOL will range from $3.84 to $13.02 and for a pickup through UberX it will be $12.08. Like most cities in Los Angeles, rates for ride requests made through UberPOOL also will vary depending on the popularity of the ride.

Mark posted on Dec 9, 2019

Taxi prices in Los Angeles doubled last year, and Uber's surge pricing scheme has fuelled worries of an impending cab exodus. Scores of people are understood to have signed up for Uber in South East Los Angeles and Silver Lake in recent months in an effort to match their fares with those offered by the company's rivals - but few seem willing to risk an early evening commute for the opportunity to be the first to pay for the ride. There is concern that if the company can find a way to match surge prices, then it may lose out to rivals who limit their surge fees to 10 per cent of a ride. The rise of ride-sharing services and higher overall consumer standards are part of a national movement toward flexible, affordable, secure, environmentally friendly vehicles that allow travelers to select their own trips, payments and rewards.

Marwood posted on Dec 9, 2019

Uber rates in Los Angeles are higher than in most other cities in California, even though drivers report higher earnings. This could be a direct result of the fact that many taxi drivers use their vehicles as a source of income. So even when prices rise for taxis, they're likely to be cheaper than Uber on a per ride basis, which could provide a disincentive to use Uber in most cities. While taxi fares may be higher than for Uber and Lyft, this should not prevent companies from offering similar services. Uber drivers have other options for getting from one location to another, and there are other transportation options to consider such as carpooling, bus transportation, or even ride sharing services.
