Taxi prices in Morrisville are remarkably similar to the rest of the city (where the price of a round trip is a fraction of that in Charleston, Virginia). In fact, the borough is fairly unique: A relatively small number of Morrisville residents live on fixed incomes, and most residents are retirees. Taxi prices in Morrisville are just below the Motor Authority's maximum allowable rate of $2.75 an hour, or around $56 a day. In fact, many cabdrivers receive less than that. Taxi drivers also have a very high turnover rate: Cabs are almost always away from their station and they have to park wherever and whenever possible. In order to compete with taxis, Morrisville's taxi system is very restrictive and drivers must be licensed by the Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Commission.
