In Norwich, Uber launched their UberX service in November 2015. UberX allows users to request a black car or minicab car to take them to where they want to go within a given time frame. Uber has set up several hubs around Norwich, in addition to the central city centre where it operates the UberEats service. It also operates in the area of the city's waterfront, and is looking to expand further in the area. In November, the London Taxi Company reported a rise in bookings with Uber.

In March 2016, Uber introduced UberGO, a service in which drivers can pick up passengers in other locations of the UK. The UberGOT7 service also allows passengers to request an Uber car from outside the UK. The service, which is available in cities including Glasgow, Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds and Liverpool, is available to book a cab using the app.

In March 2016, Uber launched its UberPool service.

Taxi prices in Norwich are too high for many people to afford them. Losing those tax-free deals would impact businesses across the country. These measures are needed to reassure hardworking people that a safe and pleasant ride is on offer, not just for short journeys, but for long-distance trips too. There's new "consultation period" that allows taxi companies to submit evidence on proposed changes before the plans are made.
