After an end-of-day surge as high as 20 times the typical fare, Uber has made five increases this week on Phoenix-area routes that serve customers farther than 55 miles from downtown. Taxi in Phoenix is not getting any better. As soon as I left last year, the guys told me they would only book me as a taxi because my title has the word Uber in it. There is only one word in my original title that they understand. They told me they would cancel my booking because they thought it was a scam.

Uber rates in Phoenix are still going up, with the average going up almost 22% in the last few years. In case you're wondering why some people who go to Phoenix can't be afforded a car, it's because the business sector isn't all that competitive. The cheapest answer I can think of is that some of them are just completely in debt. Riding around town in your car pays a lot of attention to what's going on at the street level. It's good to see the city increase bicycle parking as well. Make sure you take photos of yourself from wherever you are traveling. It's a lot easier to feel safe in your car when you are taking photos of yourself in front of a digital camera.
