The most interesting ride of my day went to a ride-sharing service called Uber. It is a relatively new service that has been gaining in popularity in the area, as well as in the city. You can sign up on the website, find an available car, and then request a ride with a single touch of the touch screen. The ride price is affordable, and can be paid for by any means of payment.
I was greeted by a driver named Mark and he was driving me to a location that was a bit farther away than I was hoping for. After a brief wait, Mark took me to a nearby restaurant called The Hens. I ordered a burger with fries, and then had a beer with Mark. He was very polite and friendly, as well as seemed to have a good sense of humor.

Uber rates in Rochester is not as bad as other cities but that doesn't mean they're cheap, as people are still able to pay at the fair price. Rochester residents will be able to pay more for a ride with Lyft on the New York City subway and at crosswalks starting Saturday. The fast-growing ride-sharing company said it will begin offering its new Lyft Line, which will be available in New York City starting on Friday. In fact, the new ride-sharing service has been testing out in three parts of the city: Washington Square Park, Times Square and Cobble Hill. Uber rates in Rochester are averaging $9.00 for the long haul and at least $5.00 for a ride to and from the station, $5.50 when getting to the station on a bike, or around $7 for a one-way trip.

Taxi prices in Rochester are easy to come by, and the companies know it. Many days, I don't even have to think about the cost of a cab. I simply take the one I have waiting for me at the dock and just walk across to Market Street, where I grab a seat, take the panhandler's orders, get a cup of coffee, and jump in the cab. And I am often amazed at just how little of an investment it really is. You can buy a cheap bus ticket for thirty dollars or a cheaper package ticket and get the same amount. Taxi prices in Rochester are fair to people looking to get around Rochester. Also it makes for a good night out on the town with friends who just happened to drop by.
