The most interesting ride of my day went to a ride-sharing service called Uber. It is a relatively new service that has been gaining in popularity in the area, as well as in the city. You can sign up on the website, find an available car, and then request a ride with a single touch of the touch screen. The ride price is affordable, and can be paid for by any means of payment.


I was greeted by a driver named Mark and he was driving me to a location that was a bit farther away than I was hoping for. After a brief wait, Mark took me to a nearby restaurant called The Hens. I ordered a burger with fries, and then had a beer with Mark. He was very polite and friendly, as well as seemed to have a good sense of humor.

I simply take the one I have waiting for me at the dock and just walk across to Market Street, where I grab a seat, take the panhandler's orders, get a cup of coffee, and jump in the cab. And I am often amazed at just how little of an investment it really is. You can buy a cheap bus ticket for thirty dollars or a cheaper package ticket and get the same amount.
