I used to think that there is only one taxi for a fare. I am now sure there is more than one. What I am sure of is that there is only one place to get a good taxi ride.
I am sure that no matter where you go and what you need you can find a good taxi to get where you are going.
I have a little truck and a big truck with wheels that can go on any type of highway. It's the only thing that can handle a trailer. The truck that I drive has four axles and the trailer has six axles. There are no more than two trucks, one carrying heavy loads and one for going slow on the highway.
This is what a local cabbie told me:
You can drive a car on the road, but if you need to go to a different place, or if you have an emergency then you need a truck.

Taxi in San Jose: Uber holds no position of control over which driver partners will be allowed to operate for Uber in San Jose. In a statement, Uber claimed that the company does not "control drivers' decisions to use or not use Uber," and only provides "a platform where they can make choices about which business model and law applies to them." But the ATC order notes that drivers actually have "a degree of independent decision making control over whether to operate for Uber or another taxi company" that is dependent on their individual performance metrics.

Uber rates in San Jose have risen in recent months, according to the city's labor code. The increases are driven by a growing demand for private-sector service, especially for Uber's ride-sharing service. In 2016, Uber brought in $10.4 billion, according to the company's own estimates. In August, San Jose introduced its new definition of "professional" drivers, meaning drivers must have a master's degree, have a minimum of $75,000 in personal assets and pass California's pre-employment screening process. Officials say the new rules allow Uber to be more competitive with taxis, as well as the city's existing taxi fleet, which is a collection of yellow cabs and green cabs owned and maintained by the city.

Taxi prices in San Jose rose 22 percent to $3.75 while Uber prices rose 10 percent to $5.34, according to the website Cabrillo Cab Bistro. By the end of the day, taxicabs had logged 6,802 rides in San Jose, 2,880 of them by Uber, which had 4,742 rides, versus 2,785 rides for taxis and 521 rides for Uber. San Jose and San Francisco have the largest rideshare industries, with Uber claiming 5 percent of the market, cab companies 6 percent, and taxi companies 3 percent, according to the California Association of Taxicab Authorities. San Jose is a hub for Uber, Lyft, Hertz and Car2Go. Both Uber and Lyft are looking for ways to get into the big-city game by offering riders more rides and by encouraging taxi drivers to compete with the app-based service.
