The best time to visit Sandton is at the beginning of the peak season (early March) and the end of the summer season. The taxi rank in Sandton is not that difficult to get to and the taxi is quite affordable.

The most common taxi you will see in Sandton is a Toyota Corolla (sometimes it is called a Javan), this will be the main taxi on the road and usually there is a sign that the driver has seen you and that you have permission to park there. The driver will then wait for you when you arrive and will usually ask you to pay a small fee for this. There are also some good budget rides with a Toyota and other foreign vehicles.

The Sandton Airport has many taxis that drive to it's entrance as well as a few that stop there to pick up passengers.

The dominant ride-hailing service Uber, which has already undergone reforms by the city's government to boost competition, is rolling out a new version of its app in the town of Johannesburg. Its mobile app is now available in 79 out of the country's towns and cities. The Uber app was tested in nine towns in April, including Sandton, South Africa's second largest city with a population of about 120,000.
