Cab fares in Sherbrooke increased by 5.4 percent between Jan. 1 and March 22. The fare is now the same as the national average, a difference of $3.83.
Other prices have also gone up. The average monthly sales tax for a car, for instance, went up from the previous year, from 27.65 cents to 29.36 cents. A daily child-care fee for a child of seven years old and under increased by $3, to $12.90. Taxes were also raised for municipal parking spaces, the price of cab rides over the course of a week was raised in two Quebec municipalities (Montreal and Rimouski), and the price of a cellphone continued to increase.
