Taxi prices in Soweto are high. The dark skinned taxi drivers hardly venture onto roads after dark. While a lighter colored cab might cost $2.50 less per kilometer, the darker colored cab should be priced at around $7 or $8. A lot of the time, locals get attacked by taxi drivers, especially because of the taxi touts. When the police were no longer able to control the situation, they began enforcing the anti-taxi law by dismantling the taxi licences of the other taxi companies operating in Soweto.
