Uber rates in Tampa are no less than 23% lower than the national average, according to a Forbes study. And it's not just Florida where Uber has its eye on doing well. CEO Travis Kalanick's empire may be built on massive funding, but Tampa is one of the few areas where he's making it happen. When asked about why Tampa was a good market for Uber, sources say that the city has a market leader in the nascent ride-sharing business. "The operating model that Uber has adapted from their competitors in San Francisco is certainly working well in Tampa, especially in regards to (transit) station density," says Dave Beck, CEO of John Newhouse.

Taxi prices in Tampa Bay increased for a third straight day, as the city's economy continues to slow. Miami-based Slice Cracker, which makes more than 40 taxis in Florida, is the biggest on the list and it's not hard to understand why. The city has no competition; Slice has 23,000 drivers. Just 15 minutes north of Tampa is Orlando, Fla. which boasts nearly 1,000 rides per minute and has made Slice into a million dollar industry. There are over 25,000 taxi drivers. Indeed, the "slash" in pricing, especially during Labor Day weekend, makes it a great time to take a ride. All of the city-owned cab companies are mandating the change by now, so the biggest boost could come from arrival of three cabs at Shands, where that company is the main cab service in the area.

I am planning a trip to 4405 West Field St in Homosassa Florida on November 3rd and need a ride from Tampa International Airport with pick up at the Delta gate. And then on November 9th, I need a return ride from the same address back to the airport. Can I plan/book this in well in advance and pay for it as well?
